Sneak Peak: Here's What I'm Working On

Stay Tuned...

DIY Snippet: Easy Update for Framed Oil Painting

Before

I bid on this loverly piece on eBay and received it a few months ago. I loved the painting but knew the frame could be painted and given  an updated look. Framing these days is so expensive and if you can do something on the cheap ( like buy a $3 paint pod with primer in the paint?!) then I say "GO FOR IT!"

After

She's gone blonde and ready to find out if they really do have more fun!!  The lighter frame really softens the colors in the painting and gives it an overall vintage vibe that I was looking to convey. Best of all- this project was inexpensive and fast- my two favorite things!!

Abstract Thinking

One of my New Year's resolutions was to try to work on creating some of my own abstract paintings. Silly, maybe? While some of you decided to give up cupcakes and Snickers bars- I've decided to continue eating them- while I'm painting!  Here it goes: (drum roll please!!)

Not too shabby for my first attempt!

Happy Wednesday!!

Foyer Information

There is something very inviting about walking into a home being instantly greeted by a round foyer table. Maybe it's the Southern girl in me that makes me think it's very "Gone with the Wind"- classy and formal. What? You don't  have room for a foyer table?  Gasp! You don't live in an antebellum mansion?! Gasp! Gasp!! Well, neither do I.  And frankly, I don't give a damn- so let's oogle over these images together!

Being Absent Minded

eclecticrevisited.com
Rooms with walls absent of color, that is! This is a trend that is surely the opposite of what I have ever known and loved. However, it is a trend that I am leaning towards for our new home. In the past I have always been drawn to color on the walls. I like the way a room feels with color wrapping you up like a warm blanket. The question now is, can this same feeling  be achieved with white walls? I believe it's a different feel for sure. You will really have to look to your accessories ( drapery panels, artwork, pillows, stacks of books) to hold the weight of that "cozy" factor. What I  really love most about this trend is that it gives you a great opportunity to change your accessories rather than repainting the room that you've grown tired of. Most of all- it keeps the husband happy! I can't tell you how many times I've heard " Why are you painting this room again?!"
