Fun Re-Vamped Trunk- Turned- Coffee Table

I had planned to do some major spray painting, but unfortunately the rainy weather prevented that from happening. It forced me to turn my attention to this trunk that I have had collecting dust in the garage. I am in the process of revamping my screened-in porch and needed a coffee table. I am challenging myself to use what I have in an effort to redesign this space with little to no cost.

When I decided that I wanted to use the trunk, I did a little searching for some inspiration pictures. That's when I came up with the idea to paint out the hardware. Here are a few pictures of some other options. My option was quick and fast, but if you have more time on your hands these other options would be really fun.

Wouldn't it be fun to recreate this Louis Vuitton pattern?

This is really similar to mine. I thought about using gold but knew I was wanting to use some gold accessories and thought it would be too much.

Love this!

This was a garage sale find. I love how she  painted the numbers representing her anniversary.

And mine:

I knew the trunk could use just a little umph ( yes, that's a word!) I had some left over metallic paint from a previous project and decided to "sparkle up" the hardware. It took just an hour or so and ta dah- a fun bohemian inspired design plan emerged. I'm also considering adding some legs to the bottom.

Stay tuned. I'm hoping to finish and show you more pictures by the end of the week!

Scenes From My Weekend

I'm going to try not to use this post as a platform to complain about the weather. I just have to say that my attitude will continue to be poor until it reaches 70 degrees in Western NC. So brace yourselves. I'm pretty grumpy. Enough with that... on to my weekend!

I spent some time chillin' with my girl. We watched my favorite movie of all time on Netflix, "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and she loved it.This was very big to me being that she is such a tomboy. I also played some crazy video game with her and was horrible at it. Nonetheless, it made her very happy that I made the attempt. I'm all about the little things being big things in their eyes.

I also really tried to ignore the weather and proceeded to get a jump on some of my spray painting projects. I've been wanting to spray these wire ginger jars for a while. Believe it or not, that's hot pink fluorescent paint. It looks red most often but I still like it. (I have 2- each shaped a little differently)

I've  been trying to figure out how to configure this little vignette in our breakfast table area. I considered painting the wicker console a funky color but thought I would try using the punch of color in the accessories first and seeing how that would work. I'm pleasantly surprised how it has all come together.

I also squeezed in a quick Goodwill diy. I could kick myself for not getting a before picture. I did not anticipate how much I thought I would like it. I was initially drawn to it because of the shiny gold frame but had a really ugly custom mat. I spray painted the mat black and added my own sharpie geometric art work. Pretty swanky for a dolla', huh?!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I'm Baaa ack !

I wasn't sure when I was going to hop back on this blog. It looks like today is the day. I've been gone since November- over three months and yet it doesn't seem that long. I have had a multitude of events happen the past few months, the latest was my grandmother's sudden passing two weeks ago today. I wish I was one of those people who can juggle it all. I really needed to put some things on hold  and focus on my family. I do desire to continue this blog and my design work that my grandmother was always so proud of. I wasn't sure for a while but I've missed having this outlet.

Today, I am missing "Grandmother" so much and I dedicate this post to her .She was like a mother to me and there for me always. She was beautiful, thoughtful, and most of all, selfless. I am truly thankful to have had her in my life.

Weekend Scenes: A Sputnik Chandelier D.I.Y.

It was the most beautiful weekend. When it is gorgeous outside, most people around these parts think about going on a hike or bike ride or hopping in the ole' kayak. Not me. I think, "what a gorgeous day to spray paint!" So, that's exactly what I did all weekend long.

I gotta give props to the Hubster who was uncharacteristically patient with me while I nervously and cautiously tried to figure out how high I wanted it to hang.

Isn't it crazy that this used to look like this?

I also have to give props to Jenny for the  inspiration. I did a slight variation of Jenny's project and have tons of those cups left over. Email me if you are interested in them.

Have a great Tuesday!!

A Little Abstract Painting Day

 Ahhhh...

What I'm up to today, y'all! Painting makes me so happy.(So does that sunshine peeking through my window!) What are you doing today? Hopefully, something that makes you happy too.

Wanna know what else makes me happy? My doggie, Birdie. She is just the best. She hangs with me through all of my crazy projects and keeps me company. One day I will devote an entire post to her because she's just awesome and is often times my favorite. Did I just say that? Sorry. I'm in the throws of raising a teenager. I'll be honest. Sometimes I like my Labrador Retriever better. As I'm typing this, my teenager has just walked up to show me that he pierced his ear. I'm going to go hug my dog now.

  Happy Thursday!
